Dr. Sherika Newman
Dr. Sherika Newman is the physician every patient deserves. With a gentle spirit and a listening ear, she pours love into every patient experience. For Dr. Newman, palliative care is not just a practice; it’s a calling.
After attending Nova Southeastern College of Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL, she completed her Family Medicine residency in 2008. In 2009, she finished her Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Broward Health.
Since then, Dr. Newman has played a leading role in both inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine including operating her own private practice from 2009-2011, practicing at Lee Memorial Hospital Q-Life Palliative Medicine Program from 2011 until 2014 and leading at Emory University as the Palliative Site Director of Emory Saint Joseph Hospital until July 2017. Her experience has earned her the recognition to serve as a national leader in palliative care and CAPC Faculty.
In 2012, Dr. Newman was a nominee for the Robert Wood Johnson Leadership Award. She has also left her mark on the Florida Physician’s Orders for Life-Sustaining Therapy (POLST).
With Dr. Newman, you get more than just a physician; she has a heart for the people. She is a public speaker who uses local and regional platforms to educate communities on Palliative Medicine including an appearance on ABC affiliate WZVN in Fort Myers, where she spoke openly about compassionate care.
